Laos pics

Jeremy and I were so amused by this little kid that proclaimed he was a " professional guide" - that we decided to take him up on his offer of taking us night fishing. We spent hours on a longtail boat watching him jump in and out of the water with giant nets... poor darling. Of course we only caught a tiny little fish.... but according to our guide it was because 1) the fishermen had already caught all the fish that day...2) because we did actually catch a really big fish but sadly it escaped through the big hole in the net and 3) aparently the fish are only willing to be caught every other day...and unfortunately we were there on the wrong day. Shame.

Jeremy and I were taking a five minute rest stop sitting in a cave ...when these local ladies plodded past.. I guess they were on their way to work up the mountain.

A posed picture taken after we canoed down the Mekong river. A few moments later..we panicked as we saw our canoe sailing rapidly back down the river...but fear not... Mrs Henrichs saved the day... jumping fearlessly into the river wearing all her clothes...rescuing the canoe...and saving not only herself but also her marine husband.
